Library Aide

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing a library environment that is conducive to learning and student education.
• Manage the circulation desk, including assisting patrons in locating information and supervising student assistants.
• Perform administrative tasks such as typing letters, processing book orders, and duplicating materials.
• Maintain library organization by shelving materials, assisting with inventory, and weeding collections.
• Generate and file circulation statistics and print overdue notices.
• Monitor internet users and assist with the setup and use of audiovisual equipment.
• Prepare bulletin boards and displays to enhance the learning environment.
• Maintain neat and orderly work areas, including the periodical section and workroom.
• Handle financial tasks such as collecting petty cash and making deposits to the campus bookkeeper.
• Support distance learning and virtual instruction requirements as directed by the Superintendent.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree, OR a minimum of 48 completed college hours.
• Alternatively, must be a current active UISD Substitute Teacher who has completed the Paraprofessional Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (PAKS) with at least one year of service.
• Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate.
• Proficient typing skills.
• Ability to use and set up audiovisual equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain emotional control under stress.
• Physical ability to perform light lifting of books and boxes, as well as climbing, stretching, bending, and stooping.
