Librarian-Media Specialist

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and implement a Media Center program that meets the needs of students, faculty, and the community
• Work with school personnel to integrate the library program into the total school curriculum
• Provide a library collection that meets academic and recreational reading needs
• Train and supervise library media staff
• Evaluate and select materials using appropriate selection aids
• Implement policies and procedures for the acquisition, circulation, and maintenance of materials and facilities
• Instruct students and manage student behavior within the media center
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid Texas school librarian certificate or endorsement
• Two creditable years of teaching experience as a classroom teacher
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain emotional control under stress
