Lessons Learned SME

Responsibilities

• Support USSPACECOM J7 in the collection, analysis, validation, and documentation of lessons learned from joint exercises, wargames, and real-world operations
• Manage the full lessons learned lifecycle, including observation identification, recommendation development, and corrective action tracking
• Develop after action reports (AARs), executive summaries, and senior-leader briefings for Tier 1 and Tier 2 events
• Integrate insights into future joint training, exercise planning, and capability development initiatives
• Coordinate with exercise planning teams to align lessons learned with the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC)
• Maintain and manage assessment data within approved knowledge and information management systems
• Facilitate collaboration across USSPACECOM directorates, Combatant Commands, and interagency partners

Requirements

• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI, ACCM, and SAP eligibility
• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, or 15+ years of relevant Department of Defense (DoW) experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience supporting lessons learned, operational assessments, or joint exercises
• Demonstrated experience with the Joint Lessons Learned Information System (JLLIS)
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations
• Extensive experience developing senior-level briefings, memorandums, and staff packages
• Current knowledge of space or joint space operations
• Previous experience working within a Combatant Command, MAJCOM, Joint Staff, or OSD staff

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field
• Completion of JPME I or JPME II
• Familiarity with USSPACECOM missions and joint training constructs
• Experience supporting J7, Joint Exercise Divisions, or Service-level training organizations
