About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative assistance to Government Policy Advisors and Attorneys, including calendar coordination and meeting scheduling.
  • Draft and edit correspondence, legislative summaries, and reports regarding Campaign Finance and Lobbying Act Compliance.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legislative histories on statutes enacted by the Michigan Legislature.
  • Review introduced legislation to assess impact on clients and prepare weekly legislative dockets.
  • Attend legislative committee and state departmental hearings to assess testimony and prepare activity reports.
  • Assist with document production, running conflict checks, preparing screening forms, and setting up engagement letters.
  • Support the coordination of legislative receptions and other firm events.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as filing, notetaking, and assisting the Compliance Team with data entry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, or a related field.
  • At least one year of professional experience in legislative policy, regulatory affairs, or government relations.
  • High-level proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects under deadline pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of general office or administrative experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word.
