About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide direct legal representation and consultations, primarily focusing on employment matters such as wage theft, health and safety, and retaliation
- Lead individual and class action cases in state and federal courts, including research, strategy, and trial
- Conduct field-based legal clinics and "Know Your Rights" workshops for rural farmworker communities
- Manage administrative claims before state agencies like DLSE and Cal/OSHA
- Design and establish client intake systems, referral pathways, and legal processes from the ground up
- (Senior level) Lead and shape the legal department, advising the Executive Director on growth and funding strategy
Requirements
- Active California State Bar license in good standing
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written)
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Must reside within 60 minutes of Tulare County or be willing to relocate
- Commitment to racial, economic, and immigrant justice
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in labor/employment law, workers' rights advocacy, or related social justice practice
- (Senior level) 2-5+ years of experience and a track record of supervising staff or attorneys
- (Junior level) 0-3 years of experience and familiarity with trauma-informed legal practices
- Lived experience in immigrant, low-wage, or rural communities
- Additional language fluency in Mixteco, Tagalog, Ilocano, Zapoteco, or Hmong

- Competitive salary: $85,000 - $95,000 (Junior) or $95,000 - $115,000 (Senior)
