About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide direct legal representation and consultations, primarily focusing on employment matters such as wage theft, health and safety violations, and retaliation.
- Lead individual and class action cases in state and federal courts, including research, strategy, drafting, and trial.
- Manage administrative claims before state agencies including DLSE and Cal/OSHA.
- Conduct field-based legal clinics, pop-up services, and "Know Your Rights" workshops for rural farmworker communities.
- Design and establish client intake systems, referral pathways, and legal processes from the ground up.
- (Senior level) Lead and shape the new legal department, advising the Executive Director on growth and funding strategy.
Requirements
- Active California State Bar license in good standing.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Must reside within 60 minutes of Tulare County or be willing to relocate.
- Demonstrated commitment to racial, economic, and immigrant justice.
- Ability to perform mobile, field-based work, including some evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in labor/employment law, workers' rights advocacy, or related social justice practice.
- Lived experience in immigrant, low-wage, or rural communities.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed legal practices.
- Experience with case management software (e.g., Salesforce, Justice Space).
- Additional language fluency in Mixteco, Tagalog, Ilocano, Zapoteco, or Hmong.

- Competitive salary: $85,000 - $95,000 (Junior) or $95,000 - $115,000 (Senior).
