About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage a defined portfolio of legal matters, ensuring alignment across timelines, budgets, resources, and priorities.
- Develop and implement detailed matter plans, including milestones and deliverables, to ensure successful execution.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding portfolio delivery, providing strategic updates and insights.
- Manage resources across the portfolio by balancing workloads and forecasting demand to optimize efficiency.
- Track, analyze, and report on matter-level budgets, including forecasting and financial performance analysis.
- Identify and assess potential risks, proactively developing mitigation strategies for matters and the broader portfolio.
- Collaborate with internal departments such as Finance, Legal Operations, and Technology to ensure effective coordination.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and implement best practices in matter management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in matter or portfolio management within a law firm.
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence high-value stakeholders.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze data, create financial models, and produce insightful reports.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent matters within a defined client or practice portfolio.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with project management methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall.
- Proficiency with project management tools like MS Project or Asana.
