Legal Intern

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research on issues, regulations, and relevant supporting laws using online and offline sources
• Perform file reviews by analyzing initial contents, identifying pertinent documents, and aiding in client evaluations
• Maintain organized records for each case, including exhibitions, briefs, appeals, and other legal documents
• Assist attorneys with trial preparation by preparing arguments, motions, contracts, and agreements
• Summarize interrogatories, testimonies, and depositions
• Support investigations by contacting clients, witnesses, and outside parties to schedule meetings or depositions
• Provide administrative support such as obtaining affidavits, reviewing trial transcriptions, and monitoring attorney calendars

Requirements

• Must be an active law student currently attending law school
• Working knowledge of legal research, legal terminology, and legal writing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior management, outside counsel, and clients
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to work onsite in Joliet, IL

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in the legal field
• Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with medical records review
