About the role
Responsibilities
- Work closely with colleagues on existing litigation and advocacy projects
- Develop core legal advocacy, legal research, and writing skills
- Analyze state and local legislative proposals and research legislative history
- Draft internal memos, testimony, and advocacy or public education materials
- Participate in community outreach, coalition meetings, and public speaking engagements
Requirements
- Graduating law student, law graduate, or judicial clerk from the Class of 2025 or 2026
- Commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, and racial justice
- Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills
- Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- Seeking admission to the New Jersey bar
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in or connection to New Jersey public interest advocacy
