Legal Director

Responsibilities

• Provide legal support for hardware design, procurement, software development, R&D, and IT functions
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts in both English and Japanese
• Perform legal risk assessments and provide strategic advice to senior management and engineering leaders
• Partner with regional legal teams to address geopolitical and regulatory risks
• Lead, mentor, and manage the performance of legal team members
• Align legal strategies with business goals to enable innovation

Requirements

• At least 15 years of corporate legal experience, including in-house counsel at a global company
• Extensive experience negotiating contracts in both Japanese and English with major international companies
• Proven track record in legal risk analysis for products and services
• Experience leading cross-functional projects in a global environment
• Business level English proficiency
• Native or equivalent Japanese proficiency (JLPT N1 or higher)

Preferred Qualifications

• Legal experience within the technology industry
• Licensed attorney in Japan or another jurisdiction
• Experience managing or mentoring multinational teams
• Overseas work or study experience
