Legal Counsel

Responsibilities

• Support Latam Legal Counsel in driving regional priorities, business planning, and growth strategies.
• Structure, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements with banking partners, API users, and enterprise customers.
• Provide day-to-day legal counsel to cross-functional business units in Latin America on financial regulations, consumer protection, and payments.
• Partner with Product, Finance, Risk, and Compliance teams to launch innovative products and support licensing pipelines.
• Manage updates to customer agreements to reflect new services and shifting local financial regulations.
• Collaborate with the global Legal Team to deliver initiatives impacting the wider group.
• Analyze and manage local consumer litigation, regulatory disputes, and asset recovery matters.
• Develop localized templates and streamline legal workflows to increase business velocity in Latin America.

Requirements

• 4-8 years PQE as a fully qualified attorney with an active registration to practice law in Brazil.
• Proven experience in law firms or in-house roles focusing on payments, fintech, banking, or financial services.
• Fluency in both English and Portuguese.
• Strong track record in autonomous commercial contract structuring and high-stakes negotiation.
• Deep understanding of financial services regulation, including consumer protection and banking frameworks.
• Ability to manage litigation and dispute resolution proceedings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in Spanish.
• Experience supporting legal matters in other Latin American markets such as Mexico or Chile.
