Legal Counsel

Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on Indian regulatory frameworks, including RBI, FEMA, IFSCA, and DPDPA.
• Partner with product and compliance teams to design and launch compliant offerings in the India market.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including institutional client and banking arrangements.
• Support the India hub with corporate governance, employment, vendor, and operational legal matters.
• Collaborate with the global legal team on international commercial contracts and market expansion scoping.

Requirements

• LLB or equivalent law degree and qualified to practice in India.
• 5+ years of legal experience, specifically within fintech, payments, or financial services.
• Strong working knowledge of Indian financial regulations (RBI, FEMA, IFSCA, PMLA/FIU-IND).
• Proven experience in commercial drafting and contract negotiation.
• Ability to provide business-oriented legal guidance in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with crypto-asset products, stablecoins, or Banking-as-a-Service.
• Familiarity with IFSCA / GIFT City regulatory frameworks.
• Previous experience working in a startup or high-growth technology company.
• Knowledge of international regulatory regimes and cross-border transaction structures.
