Legal Counsel

About the Company

Gotion Inc. is a leader in next-generation electric vehicle and energy storage technologies, specializing in lithium batteries and related systems. Based in Silicon Valley, the company is expanding its global footprint with a major manufacturing facility in Manteno, IL, and R&D centers worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Advise management on labor and employment law, including union-related issues and dispute resolution
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and corporate documents for plant operations
• Provide guidance on corporate governance and regulatory compliance
• Oversee environmental compliance matters relevant to manufacturing
• Partner with HR to address workplace disputes and employee grievances
• Manage compliance programs, audits, and investigations
• Collaborate with external counsel on specialized legal matters
• Monitor changes in laws and regulations to advise leadership
• Help build the legal function for the Manteno plant

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LL.M.) from an accredited law school
• 5+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in-house within manufacturing
• Expertise in labor and employment law, including union negotiations
• Solid understanding of corporate law and contract management
• Knowledge of U.S. manufacturing environmental compliance regulations
• Familiarity with Illinois state laws and regulatory environment
• Strong interpersonal and cross-functional communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a multinational corporation with Chinese or Asian-based parent companies
• Experience establishing a legal function in a new facility or business unit
