Legal Counsel

Responsibilities

• Provide general legal counsel for the Italian business, contributing to cross-country best practices
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts with clients, partners, and vendors in compliance with Italian law
• Manage corporate governance, including board materials, corporate housekeeping, and powers of attorney
• Support product compliance for banking and payment services, ensuring alignment with e-money and payment regulations
• Monitor Italian and European regulatory developments in the banking and payments sector
• Advise on GDPR, data protection, and internal compliance policies
• Provide legal guidance on the use of advanced technologies and AI solutions
• Collaborate with Customer Support, Sales, and Commercial teams to resolve legal issues for merchants and clients

Requirements

• Law degree or equivalent qualification in Law and Economics/Business
• 4–6 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm, fintech, or in-house legal department within a bank or payment institution
• Strong expertise in commercial contract law, corporate law, and data protection
• Deep knowledge of banking and payment services regulation (e-money, payment services, acquiring, AML/KYC)
• Proficiency in both Italian and English (C1/C2 level)
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Experience interacting or consulting with Italian or European financial regulators
