Legal Counsel

Responsibilities

• Provide general legal support to DHL’s U.S. Business Units, specifically focusing on DHL Global Forwarding USA and Hillebrand.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, including customer, non-disclosure, and service agreements.
• Assess legal risks in operations and implement processes to mitigate those risks.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support business initiatives and inform decision-making.
• Partner with senior management, sales, marketing, and operations to provide pragmatic legal advice that supports strategic objectives.
• Monitor and assess new laws and regulations within the transportation and logistics industry.
• Manage outside counsel and assist with the management of the external legal budget.
• Coordinate and provide training to employees on compliance issues such as anti-trust, anti-bribery, and anti-money laundering.

Requirements

• B.A. degree from an accredited college or university.
• J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
• 7+ years of experience in a corporate legal environment.
• Current license to practice law in a United States jurisdiction.
• Strong expertise in commercial contracting and transactional legal matters.
• Proficiency in MS Office and database systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within a multi-national corporation.
• Knowledge of Global Forwarding and applicable international treaties or conventions.
• Experience working directly with senior-level personnel on matters of major significance.
