About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide proactive administrative support to Litigation attorneys and paralegals
- Prepare and review letters, memoranda, and legal filings using document management systems
- File documents with courts electronically and monitor important deadlines
- Interact with court personnel, attorneys, and staff in a professional manner
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all matters and information
- Manage client contacts, emails, print documents, and incoming/outgoing mail
- Transcribe dictation and process requests for payments and reimbursements
- Create, maintain, and retire files in accordance with firm information governance policies
Requirements
- 3+ years of litigation legal assisting experience in a law firm or legal setting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Strong knowledge of the litigation process and general court operations
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret complex legal documents such as pleadings
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize work with a sense of urgency
Preferred Qualifications
- Education beyond high school or coursework related to the legal industry
- Proficiency with legal software such as Kofax/Nuance, InTapp, LMS+, iManage, or Bighand
