Legal Analyst I

Responsibilities

• Analyze, edit, code, and annotate court documents to provide manual data enrichment for the Lex Machina legal analytics product
• Identify and analyze case properties, findings, outcomes, and expert witnesses
• Build detailed case timelines linking briefs, motions, orders, opinions, and other legal filings
• Collaborate with team members to resolve complex legal analysis and editorial issues
• Ensure product quality by reporting errors and maintaining a customer-centric mindset

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree
• Strong legal comprehension and analytical skills
• Proficiency in deductive and quantitative reasoning
• Ability to follow and apply prescribed writing styles
• Knowledge of the US legal and court systems
• Ability to learn and apply enterprise AI tools and technologies

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in legal editing or writing
• Experience in editorial or publishing roles
• Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
