Legal Advisor on Public International Law

Responsibilities

• Research, draft, and deliver legal advice on complex public international law matters for senior officials
• Provide timely oral briefings and advisory support on urgent and sensitive international law questions
• Integrate legal advice into political and policy discussions within a government context
• Prepare and review inter-departmental reports and analytical papers
• Edit and review public statements, press releases, and official communications for legal consistency
• Mentor and develop junior lawyers within the department

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in international law
• Proven track record of advising governments, intergovernmental organisations, or multilateral bodies
• Law degree (LLB or equivalent)
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Ability to produce concise, actionable legal analysis for non-lawyer decision-makers

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in international law (LLM or equivalent)
• Proficiency in Arabic
