About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on International Humanitarian Law (IHL), International Human Rights Law (IHRL), and relevant national legal frameworks.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis, prepare legal briefs, and provide technical recommendations to support humanitarian work.
  • Initiate and implement legal strategies to address identified issues and support Regional Delegation objectives.
  • Engage with government authorities, National IHL Committees, and international organizations to promote respect for IHL and IHRL.
  • Build and maintain professional networks with relevant institutions, experts, and academic actors.
  • Contribute to the organization of academic initiatives, training activities, and conferences.
  • Monitor legal and policy developments at national, regional, and international levels.
  • Represent the ICRC in external forums and meetings regarding legal implementation.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in International Humanitarian Law, International Human Rights Law, Public International Law, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience as a legal professional in IHL, IHRL, or related areas of public international law.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid Mexican work permit or work visa.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in French.
