Legal Adviser 2

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on applicable national and international legal frameworks in relation to delegation activities and strategies.
• Draft legal notes, analyses, and contribute to working papers and summary reports.
• Perform independent research on specific legal issues and broader sectors of the national legal system.
• Support IHL dissemination activities and the implementation of strategies related to treaty participation and domestic policy frameworks.
• Provide legal advice and technical assistance to national authorities.
• Monitor developments in the national implementation of IHL and relevant international human rights law (IHRL) norms.
• Develop and maintain a network of influential institutions, academic circles, and individuals to support the respect of IHL.
• Advise on socio-political and legal aspects of delegation strategy and operations.
• Support protection objectives including civilian population protection, missing persons, detention, and weapon contamination.

Requirements

• University degree in law.
• Master's degree or specialization in International law, human rights, or International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
• 4 to 6 years of relevant working experience in a similar function.
• Established connections to governmental and academic circles, including a personal network of influential interlocutors.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous work experience in government, the judicial sector, or an international organization.
• Prior experience working with the ICRC.
• Experience in teaching or dissemination, particularly at an academic level.
