About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance on applicable national and international legal frameworks in relation to delegation activities and strategies.
- Draft legal notes, analyses, and contribute to working papers and summary reports.
- Perform independent research on specific legal issues and broader sectors of the national legal system.
- Support IHL dissemination activities and the implementation of strategies related to treaty participation and domestic policy frameworks.
- Provide legal advice and technical assistance to national authorities.
- Monitor developments in the national implementation of IHL and relevant international human rights law (IHRL) norms.
- Develop and maintain a network of influential institutions, academic circles, and individuals to support the respect of IHL.
- Advise on socio-political and legal aspects of delegation strategy and operations.
- Support protection objectives including civilian population protection, missing persons, detention, and weapon contamination.
Requirements
- University degree in law.
- Master's degree or specialization in International law, human rights, or International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
- 4 to 6 years of relevant working experience in a similar function.
- Established connections to governmental and academic circles, including a personal network of influential interlocutors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work experience in government, the judicial sector, or an international organization.
- Prior experience working with the ICRC.
- Experience in teaching or dissemination, particularly at an academic level.
