About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach general and choral music at the elementary and secondary levels
- Transition into the Coordinator of Music Education role starting in the second year
- Oversee the music education curriculum and advise music education students
- Assist in recruiting prospective students and representing the program within the Office of Teacher Education and Certification
- Manage the music education budget, equipment inventory, and field experiences
- Coordinate and place music student teachers
Requirements
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Proven experience teaching music at the elementary and/or secondary level in a United States public school setting
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence in undergraduate teaching
- Understanding of the ideals and goals of a liberal arts education
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in a relevant field
- Expertise in early childhood education, choral conducting/choral methods, or classroom piano
- Experience teaching English language learners, accessible education, or adaptive learning
