About the role

Responsibilities

  • Teach general and choral music at the elementary and secondary levels
  • Transition into the Coordinator of Music Education role starting in the second year
  • Oversee the music education curriculum and advise music education students
  • Assist in recruiting prospective students and representing the program within the Office of Teacher Education and Certification
  • Manage the music education budget, equipment inventory, and field experiences
  • Coordinate and place music student teachers

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Proven experience teaching music at the elementary and/or secondary level in a United States public school setting
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence in undergraduate teaching
  • Understanding of the ideals and goals of a liberal arts education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in a relevant field
  • Expertise in early childhood education, choral conducting/choral methods, or classroom piano
  • Experience teaching English language learners, accessible education, or adaptive learning
