Lecturer in Biology

Responsibilities

• Teach 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate biology courses
• Advise and mentor Biology majors, particularly within the biomedical sciences
• Develop and deliver course content for both face-to-face and online learning environments
• Participate in departmental, university, and community service activities
• Support the department's mission to increase equity and completion rates for diverse student populations

Requirements

• Ph.D. in the biological sciences
• Experience teaching undergraduate courses in the biological sciences at an English-speaking institution
• Experience mentoring students in the biological sciences
• Ability to teach and develop face-to-face as well as online classes
• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced training beyond the Ph.D. (e.g., postdoctoral experience or industry experience)
• Established track record of meaningful mentorship of undergraduate students
• Experience using culturally responsive or inclusive pedagogy to support underrepresented groups in STEM
• Knowledge of pedagogical best practices and a commitment to ongoing professional development
• Experience in undergraduate student recruitment
