About the role

Responsibilities

  • Teach two First-Year Writing (FYWR) discussion sections meeting twice weekly
  • Evaluate and grade student work, including five of the seven course papers
  • Oversee student teamwork during discussion sections of the faculty-led lecture course
  • Hold regularly scheduled office hours to support student learning
  • Attend all lectures, assigned discussion sections, and weekly planning meetings
  • Participate in occasional Honors Core events, such as the Honors Instructors Orientation

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in a relevant field
  • Demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching within the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in a closely related field
  • Experience teaching introductory writing courses at the University of Michigan or other higher education institutions
