About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach Russian and South Slavic cultures to primarily undergraduate students
- Manage course preparation, in-person instruction, and grading
- Hold weekly on-campus office hours for at least two hours per week
- Maintain regular student contact via email and collaborate with faculty on cultural activities
- Provide potential graduate advising in relevant research areas
Requirements
- PhD in Slavic Languages and Literatures or a related field
- Native or near-native fluency in at least one Slavic language
- Demonstrable expertise in historical and contemporary Eastern European cultures
- At least one year of undergraduate Humanities instruction experience at a North American institution
- Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using current technology and innovative methodologies in Humanities instruction
- Experience teaching film and/or Holocaust Studies
- Experience teaching Central European and/or South Slavic topics
