Lecturer I

Responsibilities

• Teach Russian and South Slavic cultures to primarily undergraduate students
• Manage course preparation, in-person instruction, and grading
• Hold weekly on-campus office hours for at least two hours per week
• Maintain regular student contact via email and collaborate with faculty on cultural activities
• Provide potential graduate advising in relevant research areas

Requirements

• PhD in Slavic Languages and Literatures or a related field
• Native or near-native fluency in at least one Slavic language
• Demonstrable expertise in historical and contemporary Eastern European cultures
• At least one year of undergraduate Humanities instruction experience at a North American institution
• Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using current technology and innovative methodologies in Humanities instruction
• Experience teaching film and/or Holocaust Studies
• Experience teaching Central European and/or South Slavic topics
