About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach six courses per academic year (three in the Fall and three in the Winter term)
- Develop course curricula in consultation with the DAAS Director of Undergraduate Studies
- Oversee course graders when applicable
- Hold regular office hours for student support
- Manage course planning, grading, and the appropriate use of classroom technology
Requirements
- Ph.D. in a relevant field or ABD (All But Dissertation) status by the time of appointment
- Demonstrated experience teaching courses with variable styles of delivery
- Cutting-edge and contemporary knowledge in the field of African American Studies or related disciplines
- Ability to teach large-enrollment undergraduate courses
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching
- Ability to teach interdisciplinary courses at the intersections of Afro-Diasporic Studies, slavery studies, popular culture, new media, film and media studies, legal studies, critical technology studies, or environmental humanities
