About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide culturally appropriate support, mentoring, and advocacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander medical students in the MD program
- Act as a trusted point of contact to help students navigate wellbeing, learning, and academic challenges
- Collaborate with academic support teams, Program Directors, and committees to ensure strong outcomes for Indigenous students
- Offer cultural guidance and represent the student voice at key decision-making forums
- Lead community engagement, outreach, and recruitment activities to strengthen Indigenous student participation
- Support Indigenous Health teaching, assessment, and curriculum development
Requirements
- Unconditional practising registration as a medical practitioner or psychologist with AHPRA
- A relevant medical speciality College Fellowship, Master’s-level qualification, or equivalent clinical experience
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, organisations, or health/education settings
- Proven capability in medical or health student teaching, learning, and academic support
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to work with Elders, community leaders, and academic teams
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and creating culturally safe learning environments
