About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject matter expert for leaves and accommodations programs, interpreting policies in alignment with federal and state employment laws.
- Provide end-to-end case management, maintaining accurate leave files and utilizing specialized management software to track cases.
- Lead the interactive dialogue regarding ADA accommodations and coordinate the return-to-work process with supervisors and HR Business Partners.
- Act as the primary liaison between internal partners and external providers for disability and workers' compensation.
- Partner with HR leaders and legal stakeholders on complex leave cases and sensitive employee relations issues.
- Coordinate Short-Term Disability (STD) claims with FML and audit disability payments according to benefit schedules.
- Develop and present regular reports to analyze leave data, trends, and vendor performance.
- Design and deliver ongoing education and training regarding leaves and accommodations for managers and leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Deep working knowledge of federal and state laws including FMLA, ADA/ADAAA, and Workers' Compensation.
- High proficiency with leaves management tracking systems, HRIS, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), and Google Workspace.
- Exceptional ability to maintain strict confidentiality and navigate sensitive, emotionally charged situations with empathy.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage high caseloads and complex data.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex regulations to all organizational levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of dedicated experience in leave administration or disability management.
- Professional leave administration or absence management certification.
