About the role
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate tracking and handling of all aspects of employee leave of absence and accommodation cases
- Maintain internal tracking systems and HRIS to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Manage full cycle leave administration including parental, FMLA, medical, workers compensation, and military leave
- Maintain communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth return to work
- Advise managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with internal policies and benefits
- Collaborate with payroll to ensure accurate pay for staff on leave
- Partner with third party administrators to process leave
- Preserve confidentiality of employee medical documentation
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and other applicable leave laws
- Bachelor's degree required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google suite
- Experience or exposure to ADP and/or Workday
- Strong organization, time management, and follow-up skills
- Ability to travel to schools throughout six regions
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-3 years of HR or leaves experience
- SHRM certification
- Knowledge of employment laws in New York, New Jersey, or Massachusetts
- Background working with entrepreneurial organizations
