Lead/Principal Controls Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the controls design development team, owning template designs, SOOs, points lists, BOMs, and Division 25 specifications
• Set technical direction for controls design, including standards, platforms, and reference architectures
• Drive design decisions across mechanical, electrical, commissioning, and construction stakeholders
• Grow the team by hiring and mentoring controls engineers
• Ensure the quality and repeatability of every design package for modular data center builds

Requirements

• Experience leading a controls or design engineering team
• Proven track record of setting controls design standards or reference architectures
• Experience authoring or owning Division 25 integrated automation specifications
• Ability to write sequences of operations (SOO) and ensure they are buildable
• Strong decision-making skills to resolve conflicts between mechanical, electrical, and construction stakeholders
• Experience hiring and developing engineering talent

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with modular or productized data center delivery
• Knowledge of data center mechanical and electrical systems (chiller plants, CRAH/CRAC, fan wall units, switchgear)
• Proficiency with BMS and SCADA platforms over BACnet and Modbus
• Familiarity with CSI MasterFormat
• Experience building a controls design function from the ground up
