About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, train, and mentor field crews in conducting wetland and ecological surveys
  • Conduct wetland delineations according to the 1987 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineations Manual
  • Collect, record, manage, and analyze geospatial data using Trimble and ESRI products
  • Prepare technical reports, memos, and other documentation for project planning and permitting
  • Perform habitat assessments, vegetation surveys, wildlife surveys, and species-specific surveys
  • Coordinate with project teams to verify field expectations and data collection requirements
  • Apply situational awareness to mitigate in-field risks and ensure safety compliance

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Soil Science, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience conducting wetland delineations
  • At least 1 year of experience leading wetland delineation teams
  • Knowledge of federal and state wetland regulations
  • Proficiency with Trimble and ESRI products
  • Ability to travel 80-90% and work extended days or weeks away from home
  • Ability to perform physical field work in adverse weather and steep terrain, carrying up to 25 pounds
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with USACE Atypical and Problem Wetland Areas methodology
  • Previous Midwest field work experience
