About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a platform-agnostic controls abstraction layer for the Autonomous Driving Kit (ADK)
  • Create and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for seamless communication between vehicle components and software
  • Spearhead development of control algorithms for body controls, brake, steer, and throttle
  • Apply expertise in automotive network topologies (CAN-FD, automotive Ethernet, FlexRay) and embedded software
  • Define Design Verification Plans (DVP&R) and validate algorithms via simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
  • Integrate energy management into control strategies and interface design
  • Establish and verify vehicle dynamics targets
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Perform FMEA analysis and track findings to resolution

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls, Robotics, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in vehicle controls, embedded controls, or related automotive engineering
  • Experience developing and deploying control algorithms for brake, steer, and throttle functions
  • Proficiency in embedded programming (C/C++) for real-time systems
  • Deep expertise in control systems, control theory, and vehicle dynamics
  • Proficiency with simulation and model-based design tools
  • Working knowledge of vehicle networking (CAN, automotive Ethernet)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Controls, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or Robotics
  • Experience abstracting vehicle controls across multiple platforms or supporting OEM programs
  • Knowledge of LIDAR, radar, and autonomous vehicle technologies
  • Experience in Machine Learning, Robotics, or working in a startup environment
