About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a platform-agnostic controls abstraction layer for the Autonomous Driving Kit (ADK)
- Create and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for seamless communication between vehicle components and software
- Spearhead development of control algorithms for body controls, brake, steer, and throttle
- Apply expertise in automotive network topologies (CAN-FD, automotive Ethernet, FlexRay) and embedded software
- Define Design Verification Plans (DVP&R) and validate algorithms via simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
- Integrate energy management into control strategies and interface design
- Establish and verify vehicle dynamics targets
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
- Perform FMEA analysis and track findings to resolution
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls, Robotics, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in vehicle controls, embedded controls, or related automotive engineering
- Experience developing and deploying control algorithms for brake, steer, and throttle functions
- Proficiency in embedded programming (C/C++) for real-time systems
- Deep expertise in control systems, control theory, and vehicle dynamics
- Proficiency with simulation and model-based design tools
- Working knowledge of vehicle networking (CAN, automotive Ethernet)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in Controls, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or Robotics
- Experience abstracting vehicle controls across multiple platforms or supporting OEM programs
- Knowledge of LIDAR, radar, and autonomous vehicle technologies
- Experience in Machine Learning, Robotics, or working in a startup environment
