Lead Test Framework Architect

Responsibilities

• Define and own test architecture standards and reusable automation framework patterns for a Kubernetes-based microservices platform
• Architect testability-by-design principles for services, APIs, and platform components
• Design test environment strategies using Kubernetes, including ephemeral environments and environment-as-code patterns
• Deliver CI/CD quality gate architecture, integrating unit, contract, integration, E2E, and performance testing
• Establish contract testing patterns for microservices to ensure continuous inter-service compatibility
• Define test data strategies for distributed, instrument-connected workflows, including synthetic and AI/ML data requirements
• Partner with Engineering leadership to drive adoption of framework patterns across product teams

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in test or quality architecture roles
• Deep hands-on expertise with Kubernetes and container-based test infrastructure
• Strong experience designing multi-level test automation frameworks (unit, contract, integration, E2E, and performance)
• Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipeline architecture and quality gate integration
• Experience with contract testing approaches such as Pact or consumer-driven contract testing
• Demonstrated ability to define and deliver reusable test frameworks adopted across multiple teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience testing scientific instrument software, laboratory platforms, or regulated industries (life sciences, diagnostics, GxP)
• Familiarity with performance and load testing frameworks like k6, Gatling, or Locust
• Background in infrastructure-as-code and GitOps practices
• Exposure to AI/ML model testing and data quality assurance
• Experience with observability tooling (tracing, logging, metrics) in containerized environments
