About the role

About the Company

Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor designed to provide critical power to hospitals, data centers, and remote sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements definition, design, and implementation of Radiant’s test site
  • Design, build, commission, and maintain test rigs, fixtures, and instrumentation for turbomachinery and cooling systems
  • Own the turbomachinery test strategy across development, qualification, and production phases
  • Serve as the technical authority for vibration, rotordynamic, and bearing-related testing
  • Plan and execute development, qualification, and acceptance tests
  • Analyze test data to assess vibration behavior, stability, and thermal response
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to test engineers and technicians
  • Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, and manufacturing teams to resolve design discrepancies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in testing or validation of turbomachinery or rotating equipment
  • Hands-on experience testing high-speed rotating machinery and high-temperature hardware
  • Experience correlating test results with analytical predictions
  • Demonstrated technical leadership skills
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading or mentoring test engineers or technicians
  • Experience with power generation or high-reliability systems
  • Strong understanding of rotordynamics, vibration, and bearing behavior
  • Familiarity with rotordynamic analysis tools (e.g., XLrotor, Dyrobes)
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as API, ASME, or ISO
  • Startup or fast-paced hardware development experience
