Lead Test Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own and lead the testing and validation strategy across R&D, product development, and certification
• Develop and maintain comprehensive test frameworks for component, subsystem, rack, and full BESS-level validation
• Design, build, and scale advanced test infrastructure for battery modules and systems
• Lead the development of automated testing systems and data acquisition infrastructure
• Oversee lab safety procedures and high-voltage testing environments
• Design and execute complex test plans for product validation and R&D investigations
• Analyze large test datasets using Python to identify performance trends and failure mechanisms
• Mentor and guide Test Engineers providing technical leadership

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
• 6+ years of experience in hardware testing, validation, or verification
• Experience designing and executing complex engineering test plans
• Demonstrated experience working safely with high-voltage DC and AC systems
• Deep experience building electro-mechanical test setups and wiring instrumentation
• Experience with data acquisition systems (DAQ) and test automation
• Strong data analysis capabilities using Python or MATLAB
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience testing lithium-ion battery systems or BESS
• Familiarity with battery cyclers and Battery Management Systems (BMS)
• Knowledge of battery safety standards such as UL1973 or UL9540
• Experience with industrial communication protocols like CAN, Modbus, or SCPI
• Experience testing power electronics, inverters, and grid-connected systems
