About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise and prioritize work for QA Lab Technicians to ensure productivity and data accuracy
- Develop and coach team members on lab protocols, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement
- Conduct analytical and organoleptic testing of raw ingredients, in-process samples, and finished goods
- Perform root cause analyses for non-conformances and manage product holds and dispositions
- Create work instructions and procedures for laboratory functions
- Utilize continuous improvement methodologies like Lean, TPS, or Six Sigma to drive performance
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, corporate, and plant policies and procedures
- Support the QA team during internal and external audits and review records for discrepancies
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree in a science-based area preferred (or 4 years of relevant work experience)
- Experience with quality specifications, process control monitoring, and documentation
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) or Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency in database applications for logistics, enterprise management, or quality data systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field
- Advanced quality or food safety training and/or certifications
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
