Lead Technician - Controls

Responsibilities

• Serve as an internal consultant to the maintenance department for troubleshooting electrical and controls process issues.
• Identify equipment and controls deficiencies related to operation or original design.
• Develop and implement long-term solutions, including controls upgrades, replacements, and program revisions.
• Modify and improve PLC- and PC-based control systems, including hardware, software, and electrical components.
• Provide technical expertise to enhance equipment safety, uptime, throughput, and operational readiness.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams on equipment improvement initiatives.
• Support shop-floor users by addressing PLC application issues and providing technical training.
• Plan, design, and document technical solutions for corrective actions and continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2–5+ years of relevant technical or manufacturing experience.
• Experience with machining components and using standard shop measurement tools.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, blueprints, and CAD prints.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, control systems, ladder logic, VFDs, and servo systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
