About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee and organize technician teams to conduct assembly activities for the construction of the SPARC Tokamak
- Manage day-to-day work orders, including mechanical, welding, electrical, and lifting tasks
- Coordinate the handling, alignment, and mechanical integration of large electromagnetic coils, vacuum vessels, and instrumentation systems
- Lead daily kick-off meetings and shift-change reports to communicate schedules, safety hazards, and major events
- Collaborate with engineers, metrology, and quality groups to ensure precise component completion and resolve assembly issues
- Participate in major on-site operations, such as critical component lifts and movements
- Perform visual inspections to confirm task completion by technician teams
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 7+ years of experience in a highly technical assembly role (e.g., aerospace, semiconductor, oil & gas, or power plants)
- 2-3 years of experience overseeing a team of five or more people
- Experience completing large-scale projects from end to end
- Knowledge of standard joining and integration methods, such as bolted interfaces, flanges, welding, and epoxies
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in environments that may include confined spaces or platforms up to 25 feet high
- Strong dedication to safety in industrial environments involving heat, noise, high voltage, and cryogenics
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of technical assembly experience and 3+ years of leading teams of 10+ people
- Experience with rigging, heavy component lifting, and forklift operation
- Knowledge of vacuum systems, clean room best practices, and cryogenic systems
- Proficiency with machining tools (lathe/mill) or designing custom tooling and fixtures
- Experience using JIRA, Manufacturo, or other software-based tracking tools
- Experience with metrology tools and precision alignment
