About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the system-wide coordination, governance, and assurance of sustainability performance across Transmission and Distribution licences
- Own the delivery of regulated sustainability commitments and provide regulatory assurance through robust evidence and audit trails
- Translate sustainability strategy into deliverable plans, programmes, and governance arrangements
- Lead sustainability delivery through cross-business Working Groups, influencing and negotiating across multiple directorates
- Coordinate sustainability performance reporting, including monthly dashboards and Annual Environmental Reports
- Manage allocated sustainability budgets, including forecasting, spend phasing, and commissioning external support
- Line-manage the central Sustainability Specialist team, providing leadership, coaching, and performance management
- Act as a senior internal advocate for sustainability, influencing Director-level decision-making
Requirements
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent significant professional experience
- Extensive experience leading complex, cross-business sustainability or assurance-critical programmes
- Deep understanding of sustainability requirements within a regulated infrastructure or utilities context
- Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and challenge at Director and senior manager level
- Strong experience in regulatory, assurance, or governance environments
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills
