Lead Sustainability Specialist

Responsibilities

• Lead the integration and delivery of sustainability within the SPT Strategic Projects portfolio to ensure alignment with business plan commitments.
• Support the Sustainability Manager in tracking progress against delivery plans and recommending remedial actions for any identified gaps.
• Champion the integration of environmental and social considerations into core business processes and organizational decision-making.
• Manage sustainability initiatives within the Strategic Projects portfolio to enhance environmental performance and reputation.
• Lead internal and external engagement activities, representing the organization in various working groups.
• Conduct research and analysis to translate emerging sustainability trends into actionable business plans.
• Identify opportunities for strategic innovation through process improvements or the adoption of new technologies.

Requirements

• Degree in a relevant discipline; a postgraduate qualification in sustainability, environmental management, or business is preferred.
• Proven experience leading specialist teams and delivering cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of sustainability requirements specific to electricity network operators.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate with senior-level stakeholders.
• Technical expertise in areas such as sustainable design, carbon and energy, biodiversity, or responsible sourcing.
• Strong analytical skills with a rigorous approach to data management and interpretation.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to coach and train non-technical audiences.
