About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the commissioning of transmission substation equipment to ensure compliance with project specifications and design feasibility.
- Provide functional direction and supervision to technicians, craft support, and other discipline engineers.
- Prepare and maintain detailed commissioning schedules and proactively plan for major milestones.
- Execute commissioning efforts as an independent resource to ensure efficient and timely turnover to the client.
- Perform thorough system walk-downs and reviews to establish completion status and identify outstanding items.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Protection System design, settings, testing, or NERC CIP ESP/Security Zone commissioning.
- Review and approve commissioning documentation, test results, and relay calibration reports.
- Adhere to all safety and quality standards, particularly in high-voltage environments.
Requirements
- OSHA 10 Hour Training certification.
- Subject matter expertise in Protection System design or NERC CIP.
- Ability to work safely in high-voltage substation environments.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform physical labor in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions.
- Capability to work long shifts, climb ladders/scaffolds, and work in confined or awkward spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET or NETA Certification.
- 8+ years of relevant startup or commissioning experience.
- Strong knowledge of tools, instruments, and technical principles related to power plants.
- Proven supervisory, planning, and problem-solving skills.
