Lead, Startup & Ventures Marketing

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary MongoDB representative within the Bay Area startup ecosystem, building trusted connections with top VCs, founders, and operators.
• Design and execute targeted acquisition strategies to engage and convert high-potential, venture-backed startups.
• Lead the planning and execution of high-impact founder programming, including hackathons, demo days, founder dinners, and VC-partnered events.
• Collaborate with Brand, Social, and Digital Marketing teams to amplify regional startup initiatives through digital channels.
• Drive cross-functional alignment by embedding startup and developer audience needs into initiatives led by Revenue Marketing, DevRel, and Strategic Events.
• Define and track key success metrics, such as attendance quality and funded-founder participation, to continuously optimize programming.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in marketing, community, ecosystem, or events roles focused on startups, developers, or technical founders.
• Proven experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
• Deep familiarity with the Bay Area startup ecosystem and established relationships with VCs, accelerators, and founder communities.
• Ability to engage technical audiences and understand startup engineering workflows.
• Experience working in or closely with venture capital firms or early-stage startups.
• Strong data-driven decision-making skills and the ability to communicate results to senior stakeholders.
• Ability to thrive in 0-to-1 environments, building processes and strategies from the ground up.
