About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical leadership in the design, development, testing, and deployment of core banking applications
- Lead complex technology initiatives to ensure solutions are scalable, stable, and secure within a regulated environment
- Serve as a technical authority for Java-based services and integrations, guiding team design decisions
- Ensure all applications meet strict risk, security, compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Act as an escalation point for complex production issues, performing root-cause analysis and remediation
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance
- Drive engineering standards, best practices, and continuous improvement across the SDLC
- Apply AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve delivery speed and code quality
Requirements
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience with a focus on Java enterprise applications
- 5+ years of experience with Spring-WS, REST, and SOAP-based services
- 3+ years of experience with relational databases such as Oracle and/or DB2
- 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and JIRA/Agile methodologies
- 3+ years of experience with enterprise monitoring tools like AppDynamics, Dynatrace, or Splunk
- 2+ years of experience with OpenShift (OCP), Kubernetes, or containerized deployments
- 2+ years of experience with GitHub workflows and messaging platforms like MQ or Kafka
- 1 year of experience using GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted development tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in core banking, payments, deposits, or other regulated financial systems
- Strong understanding of high-availability, distributed, and transaction-based systems
- Familiarity with performance tuning, resiliency, and capacity planning for Java applications
- Exposure to cloud-native or hybrid-cloud architectures and enterprise automation
