Responsibilities

• Define and operate against SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets
• Build and improve the observability layer including metrics, logs, and traces
• Lead incident response and drive blameless postmortems
• Reduce toil through automation and software engineering
• Perform production hardening, stress-testing, and capacity planning
• Improve release safety through progressive delivery and feature flags
• Enhance developer experience and internal tooling
• Partner across product, platform, security, and compliance teams
• Mentor engineers and shape technical standards

Requirements

• Track record of owning services in production under real load
• Experience defining and operating against SLOs/SLIs
• Experience leading incident response and writing postmortems
• Hands-on experience with observability tooling
• Deep system design experience in distributed services and asynchronous messaging
• Significant industry experience in high-ownership engineering environments
• Proficiency with modern cloud environments (AWS/GCP), containers, and CI/CD
• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring capabilities
• Pragmatic approach to balancing reliability with shipping velocity
