Lead Software Engineer - Middleware

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver secure, scalable middleware solutions within an agile team to support consumer banking technology products.
• Execute creative software solutions and technical troubleshooting to solve complex architectural problems.
• Develop high-quality production code and perform rigorous code reviews and debugging.
• Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
• Identify opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability.
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical credentials.

Requirements

• 5+ years of middleware software development experience.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one programming language.
• Proven experience with CI/CD and the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Practical cloud-native engineering experience.
• Exposure to AWS and Terraform.
• Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted software development tools for coding, testing, or troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use, including data sensitivity and security considerations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Server-side programming experience in Java, C, C#, or Python.
• Experience with Spring frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Kafka).
• Experience with distributed technologies such as Kafka, Cassandra, Spark, or Hadoop.
• Experience with messaging technologies like WebSphere MQ/JMS or RabbitMQ.
• Proficiency in writing performant SQL and stored procedures (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.).
• Experience building for testability using JUnit, Mockito, or Cucumber.
