Lead Software Engineer

About the Company

MediCircle is building the national infrastructure to make prescription drugs affordable. We reclaim unused medications, recertify their quality using our patented process, and redistribute them through our licensed pharmacy to provide patients with medications at zero out-of-pocket cost.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of MediCircle’s backend architecture and core infrastructure
• Build and ship end-to-end features across backend and frontend systems using Python/Django and TypeScript/React
• Evaluate and integrate AI tools and workflows into development processes and product capabilities
• Design and maintain deployment pipelines, infrastructure, and observability tools
• Collaborate across teams to build user-centric, scalable systems that account for compliance and data integrity
• Help shape engineering culture, standards, hiring, and mentoring as the team grows

Requirements

• Proven experience building and scaling real systems from scratch (APIs, data models, backend services)
• Strong expertise in backend system design and scalable architectures
• Proficiency in Python (Django preferred), TypeScript, React, and REST APIs
• At least two years of experience in a software development role
• Experience leading technical projects or managing engineering teams
• Proficiency with DevOps practices including CI/CD, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK preferred)
• Ability to translate loosely defined problems into shipped production systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, or other highly regulated/compliance-heavy environments
• Experience in early-stage startups or fast-paced, high-growth environments
