Lead Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead by coding, delivering hands-on features and platform capabilities in Java and Python.
• Build and maintain end-to-end RESTful APIs with a focus on performance and backward compatibility.
• Develop secure, high-quality production code and drive peer reviews, debugging, and refactoring.
• Engineer AWS-native services using infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
• Automate operational issues and improve stability through CI/CD, observability, and resiliency patterns.
• Lead communities of practice and contribute to a diverse and inclusive team culture.

Requirements

• 5+ years of applied software engineering experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Java and expert-level RESTful API development.
• Deep, hands-on experience designing, building, and operating cloud-native services on AWS.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
• Strong database skills and experience with Elasticsearch or Kafka/Messaging platforms.
• Proficiency in CI/CD, application resiliency, and security across the SDLC.
• Strong production ownership skills, including monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with containers and orchestration such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of observability tooling including logging, metrics, and tracing.
• Familiarity with API governance and security patterns like authN/authZ and contract testing.
