Lead Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and build highly available, distributed backend services with a focus on latency, throughput, and resiliency.
• Own end-to-end delivery of APIs and microservices, including design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Implement cloud-native solutions on AWS using containerized deployments and orchestration.
• Build and operate messaging, caching, and asynchronous processing patterns to improve scalability.
• Establish strong observability practices including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting to drive production stability.
• Conduct technical design reviews and code reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
• Collaborate with product and architecture teams to deliver secure and compliant platform capabilities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on ownership of production systems.
• Proficiency in Java and/or Python, and working proficiency with JavaScript.
• Strong experience in distributed system design, including scalability and failure modes.
• Hands-on experience building REST/JSON APIs and microservices.
• Practical knowledge of AWS services, networking, and security fundamentals.
• Experience with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes or ECS).
• Strong understanding of SDLC, secure coding, and CI/CD practices.
• Solid grasp of data structures and algorithmic efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong database fundamentals including SQL and NoSQL technologies.
• Exposure to data engineering concepts such as ETL/ELT and pipeline design.
• Familiarity with distributed data systems and performance tuning.
• Experience building developer platforms or shared services used by multiple teams.
