Lead Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and operation of mission-critical Real-Time Payments (RTP) services using microservices and cloud-native architecture.
• Implement distributed in-memory data patterns using VMware GemFire or Apache Geode for ultra-low-latency state and caching.
• Manage production incidents (P1/P2) including triage, war-room coordination, mitigation, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Drive the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
• Own release quality through CI/CD gates, canary/blue-green deployment strategies, and automated rollback processes.
• Collaborate with product, risk, and compliance teams to ensure secure, compliant, and traceable payment outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of applied software engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in the Java ecosystem (Java 11+, Spring Boot) and asynchronous/event-driven design.
• Proven experience with microservices architecture and domain-driven design.
• Hands-on experience with GemFire or Apache Geode (partitioning, replication, and performance tuning).
• Extensive experience with AWS services (EKS, EC2, S3, RDS, etc.).
• Experience with messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka or MQ.
• Solid background in incident management, SRE practices, and high-availability systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years in backend engineering with 4+ years specifically in payment platforms (RTP/instant payments).
• Experience integrating AI tools like Microsoft Copilot or Claude into engineering workflows.
• Proficiency with observability stacks such as Datadog, Splunk, ELK, or Prometheus/Grafana.
