Lead SMT Process Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop and own the in-house SMT and PCB assembly manufacturing process from prototype through production
• Define process standards for board assembly, inspection, rework, traceability, and quality control
• Lead the design and buildout of the PCB assembly area, including layout and material flow
• Specify, source, and implement SMT line equipment, inspection tools, and rework tools
• Create process documentation including work instructions, process flows, and control plans
• Partner with Electrical Engineers to drive DFM/DFT for PCBAs
• Build and lead the PCB assembly organization, including hiring and developing engineers and technicians

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering
• 6+ years of experience in PCB assembly or SMT process engineering
• Experience developing and scaling SMT processes in a production environment
• Experience with PCB assembly equipment and inspection methods
• Experience working cross-functionally on DFM for electronics
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance
• Must be willing to work on-site 5 days per week

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience standing up a new PCB assembly line from scratch
• Experience integrating manufacturing processes with MES/MRP systems
• Familiarity with IPC standards such as IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001
• Experience hiring and leading technical teams
