Lead Site Reliability Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the reliability for batch settlement systems, ensuring cycle completion windows are met and data integrity is maintained
• Build and improve observability for settlement pipelines through dashboards, alerts, and anomaly detection
• Drive automation of operational toil, including certificate rotation, environment provisioning, and compliance artifact generation
• Partner with UK-based settlement engineers to acquire domain expertise on compliance and routing
• Participate in incident management, driving root cause analysis and implementing durable fixes
• Contribute to regulatory readiness by ensuring SRE practices produce audit-ready artifacts for SOX and PCI-DSS exams

Requirements

• Professional English fluency
• Bachelor's degree
• 6+ years of experience in SRE, production operations, or reliability engineering
• Experience in DevOps Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in Java, Python, or Go
• 4+ years of experience with Cloud Native technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• 3+ years of experience with container orchestration (Docker or Kubernetes)
• Experience with Shell or Bash scripting
• 3+ years of Unix or Linux system administration experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing automation solutions using agentic AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot CLI)
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across distributed systems
• Familiarity with payments, financial services, or other regulated high-availability domains
• Knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP, DNS, and TLS

Capital One is building a Site Reliability Engineering center in Mexico City. We are looking for foundational engineers to own the reliability and operational maturity of critical batch settlement platforms that process every credit and debit transaction across our network.
